The Story Behind Corvid

From Idea to Impact

Corvid began in 2004 with a simple idea: harnessing the power of computational physics to solve the most complex engineering problems in the world. Founded by Dr. David Robinson, who holds a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering and has a passion for understanding how systems work under extreme conditions, Corvid started in a modest office in Mooresville, North Carolina. It was a place where intelligent, motivated people could explore ideas, test boundaries, and do meaningful work.

At the time, Robinson had not set out to build a large company. What he did have was a deep curiosity, years of research experience, and a vision for how advanced modeling and simulation could accelerate innovation.

From those early days, Corvid quickly earned a reputation not just for innovation, but for the way its people approached challenges with rigor, creativity, and ownership. What started as a niche computational physics firm evolved into a multidisciplinary engineering company, expanding its capabilities and eventually moving into manufacturing. The decision to grow in Mooresville was not accidental. The region offered access to exceptional engineering talent, strong academic partnerships, and a community that supported Corvid’s people as much as its mission.

Today, the company employs hundreds of professionals across 10 locations nationwide, with its headquarters still firmly rooted in Mooresville, delivering complex engineering solutions across a wide range of applications. By combining powerful predictive tools with an in-house, end-to-end integrated approach, Corvid teams deliver solutions that balance performance, efficiency, and cost, setting Corvid apart in the marketplace. As our founder, Dr. David Robinson, often says when asked about Corvid’s story and success, “We hire good people, give them interesting problems to solve, and then get out of their way.” It is that simple adage that continues to differentiate the Corvid team from the rest.

The Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) selected Corvid to receive the James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award. Of more than 13,000 cleared contractors in the National Industrial Security Program (NISP), less than 1% are selected annually to receive this award.

The Small Business Administration (SBA) has awarded two Tibbetts Awards to Corvid Technologies, a recognition given to companies that exemplify the very best in Small Business Innovation Research achievement.

Through it all, Corvid has remained true to its founding spirit: hiring the best people and eliminating barriers to deliver solutions that matter.
